Damn Yankees! I'm not going to remark much about this game. I'd hate to say too much about this slight victory for the Yanks. While I thought James Shields had an excellent pitching performance with five strikeouts in five innings, giving up only two runs on eight hits and J.P. Howell pitching three innings in relief, giving up only one hit with two Ks, I was disappointed with the Rays' lack of offense. Only Cliff Floyd, Eric Hinske, Willy Aybar and Carlos Pena had hits. I don't think Chien-Ming Wang (2-0) is very talented even though he held the Rays hitless until the fifth and took a two-hitter into the seventh. All I can really say is he got lucky... Wang pitched on a day when the Rays' bats were cold, nothing more. It's a shame about the seventh inning. With Floyd and Hinske on base, Aybar struck out swinging and Shawn Riggans lined into a double play. You can't win every game, but when the pitching was top-notch, the other side needs to take advantage of the other team's deficient offense. Somedays, two runs is enough. Ugh.
